The Course Is Set!

The 3.56 mile, twelve obstacle hellish Warrior Dash Virginia course is up and on the website at http://www.warriordash.com/register2011_virginia.php.

The overall length of the run is slightly longer than a 5k at 3.56 miles. The first obstacle is the "Teetering Traverse" which is basically a very thin wooden plank over a trench. Then it is a pretty good length run to the second obstacle, "Dead Weight Drifter" here you must trudge through waist deep water and navigate your way over logs. The third obstacle is the "Cargo Climb" which is a straight climb up and over a cargo net. Next up is the "Blackout" obstacle in which you must dive into the darkness of a trench and try to escape it. The fifth obstacle has the intimidating name "Arachnophobia" here you must thread through tangling ropes in order to continue on your adventure. After making a slight turn back toward the Finish Line you encounter the obstacle "Chaotic Crossover" where you must crawl across tangled nets. As you continue through your turn back to the Finish Line you come across "Road Rage". The obstacle "Road Rage" is where the competitors must stampede their way through piles of rusted wreckage. Next up on your hellish menu is "Barricade Breakdown". Here you must quickly and carefully maneuver up and over wooden barricades and under barbed wire (No, not Pamela Lee Anderson). Once you safely negotiate the "Barricade Breakdown" obstacle you start your second longest run of the course. After your run you are greeted with two ropes on above  your head and one to walk across. You must navigate your way across these cables as they pass over a body of water. Don't fall in because being wet at your next obstacle could make you a little uncomfortable. The next obstacle is "Hay Fever". At this obstacle you must hustle your way up and over giant bales of hay. From here you take of toward your final two obstacles but definitely not the two easiest. As you approach the next obstacle you think you smell smoke...you think you see flames jumping from the ground like Hell's Gates have been opened and split the ground in order to escape. As you approach you realize that your next obstacle is the "Warrior Roast". Here you must gather yourself and leap over the Warrior Fires before heading to your final challenge, you final obstacle, the culmination of all the suffering you have endured through the previous eleven obstacles. The final grueling obstacle is "Muddy Mayhem" where you have to scramble through mud and under barbed wire (see above Pamela Lee Anderson reference). Once you exit "Muddy Mayhem" it is just an all out sprint to the finish and the glory of finishing the 2011 Virginia Warrior Dash!

I am excited and nervous at the same time. I look forward to attacking the challenge of this course and the competition against my siblings.
