Warrior Dash, Tennessee???

My journey to the Warrior Dash in Charles City Virginia started as the New Year began. I was trying to find the motivation to get off my butt and get back into the gym. I wanted to lose weight and get myself into better shape as I approached my 39th and then 40th year. A friend of mine mentioned the Warrior Dash in a post on his Facebook page and it peaked my interest. I started out by going straight to www.warriordash.com and seeing what the event was all about. I must admit that the adventure and challenge caught my eye. I decided at this time that I wanted to participate in the event. My original plan was to attend the Warrior Dash in Manchester, TN since I would be stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky by the date of the event, 17 September. I began training at 5:30 a.m. (0530 Military time) prior to go to my Organized Physical Training at my unit. I became a regular at the gym but was not pushing myself like I needed to. Then in mid February a visit from my siblings changed all of that.

In mid February my baby brother, Tony, 23, and my baby sister, Dawn, 27, came to New York from Virginia to pay me a visit. It was during this visit that I received the motivation that I really needed. I mentioned casually to my siblings that I was planning to do the Warrior Dash in Tennessee. My siblings then informed me that they were already planning to participate in the Warrior Dash in Virginia. Upon further discussion with my siblings I decided to throw my hat into the Warrior Dash in Virginia. Of course with my being military, everything is depending on my new unit and what they allow me to do. Immediately the idea of participating with my brother and sister in the Warrior Dash fired up my competitive juices in a way they have not flowed in a few years. I knew I needed to get myself into shape and I needed to beat my siblings.
